Elba Island offers a wide variety of beaches. Our main advice is to avoid getting attached to just one beach and to choose each day based on the wind.

By checking the direction and strength of the wind, you can choose the most sheltered beach, where the wind blows from the sea towards the coast , and enjoy the sea in the best possible conditions.
On Elba, you only need to travel a few kilometers to find a completely different sea.

Equipped Beaches
Innamorata:
It is very large: about 280 meters long and almost 30 meters wide.
Composed mostly of sand and small pebbles, it is nestled in a beautiful landscape characterized by the nearby Gemini Islands, a popular destination for easy excursions by light boats such as canoes or pedal boats, and by swimming. Thanks to their seabed rich in marine life, the two islets are also popular with snorkeling enthusiasts.
The beach is half public and half equipped with beach clubs; it also offers many services, including bars and restaurants. A walkway on the beach provides access to the sea for people with disabilities.
To the left of Innamorata is the small beach of Punta delle Ciarpe, directly opposite the Gemini Islands, where traces of mining activity are visible amidst the Mediterranean scrub. To the right, among the rocks of Punta di Pareti, is another secluded cove.
From the beach, the view stretches to the island of Montecristo, the promontory of Capo di Stella, the promontory of Fonza, and all the way to the promontory of Capo Poro. At dusk, you can also enjoy spectacular sunsets over Monte Capanne.
The beach is protected from most of the winds to the north by Punta Pareti and to the south by Punta della Ciarpa and the Gemini islands.
Fetovaia e Cavoli:
Approximately 200 meters long and up to 40 meters wide, it features fine, golden granite sand. It is protected by a wild promontory (Punta Fetovaia) covered in Mediterranean scrub that extends for approximately 800 meters. On calm days, it is the ideal destination for a pedal boat excursion.
The seabed gradually slopes downward, and the crystalline, turquoise, and calm waters make Fetovaia a true paradise.
The beach is sheltered from almost all winds: Punta Fetovaia protects it from westerly winds, and Monte Cenno, on the slopes of Capanne, protects it from the north wind, creating a mild microclimate even in winter. The sirocco is the only wind that, on stormy days, disturbs the clarity and calm of the sea.
Precisely because of its beauty, the beach is often crowded with swimmers. Occasionally occupied by beach resorts, it is also an ideal destination for families with children. The beach is equipped with disabled facilities: the Pino Solitario beach club has a Job chair, a wooden walkway to reach umbrellas and loungers, showers, restrooms, and a larger umbrella.
If you prefer a less lively spot, to the left of Fetovaia, after the small boat launch, a series of large, smooth granite slabs are perfect for sunbathing, a dip in the sea, and total relaxation.
Biodola
The beach is characterized by a natural amphitheater formed by the reliefs of Serone delle Cime, Capannone and Colle Pecorara, richly covered by a dense coppice forest and Mediterranean scrub, which is contrasted by the panorama of Monte Perone and Capanne on the sea.
Its position exposes it to northwest winds while being protected from south winds.
Immersed in Elba's natural beauty, Biodola beach is a glimpse of pure beauty: six hundred meters of fine golden sand, Mediterranean scrub reaching down to the sea, beautiful hotels, and a campsite right next to the beach.
The gently sloping seabed allows for strolls in the water and makes the beach a popular destination for families with children, who enjoy playing on the shore with buckets and spades.
Thanks to the presence of various services, the beach is also very popular with young people.
It is equipped with several accommodation facilities, numerous bars and restaurants, and pedal boat rentals: on quiet summer days, this simple means of transport is ideal for discovering the beautiful surrounding coast.
In some areas, it's reserved for lounger/umbrella rentals. Water skiing, scuba diving, and surfing are available.
Biodola, which takes its name from a rush that grew on the dunes, is connected by a passage over the rocks to nearby Scaglieri , which has very similar characteristics.
Le Ghiaie
Very close to the historic centre of Portoferraio, Ghiaie beach is famous for the unparalleled beauty of its seabed and its white pebbles smoothed by the sea, stained, according to legend, by drops of sweat from the Argonauts .
It is advisable to visit the beach especially on days with a sirocco wind, which will further enhance the transparency of the water and the reflections of the splendid seabed, making it similar to a swimming pool.
The stretch of sea in front, which extends for about a nautical mile including the Scoglietto, has been a biological protection zone since 1971. This has made this protected area, due to its rich marine flora and fauna, one of the most beautiful places for scuba diving. Fishing is obviously prohibited.
Le Ghiaie is a true snorkeling paradise! Even children, with just a mask and just a few meters from the shore, can see a myriad of fish.
The beach is approximately 330 meters long (plus 75 meters of cliff) by 18 meters at its widest point; the last few meters to the right are made up of rocks, which, however, make it difficult to sunbathe.
The beach features a walkway that allows disabled access to the sea. It borders a lovely avenue that separates it from the public gardens, an ideal place to cool off and let the children play during the hottest hours of the day.
Amenities abound: along the promenade behind the beach, there are bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors, and a paid parking lot. On the beach itself, there's a beach club, pedal boat rentals, and a boat rental service.
Naregno
Guarded by two Spanish fortresses, Forte Longone and Forte Focardo , Naregno beach is a little treasure of the Island of Elba.
Just three kilometers from the towns of Capoliveri and Porto Azzurro, the beach is approximately 500 meters long and less than 30 meters wide.
It is made up of fine sand and small pebbles and is surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation: pines, holm oaks, oaks, acacias, eucalyptus trees, prickly pears, agaves, and palms.
Naregno is a popular beach destination for families due to the safety of the gently sloping seabed, the amenities on the beach, and the sandy shore. The Elba in Love beach resort is equipped for disabled guests with a platform and a wheelchair, and some spaces on the beach are reserved for those with mobility difficulties.
Near the beach, you'll find bars, restaurants, and other small businesses. For sports enthusiasts, there's a sailing and windsurfing school, a diving school, and canoe and pedal boat rentals.
At the southern end of the beach, a small panoramic path, immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, leads to Forte Focardo and Cala Alessandra, a tiny beach located at the foot of the fort.
A beautiful promenade allows for pleasant walks, especially in the evening, lulled by the sea breeze that cools the Elban evenings.
From the beach you can also enjoy an enchanting view that extends from Forte San Giacomo along the entire coast of Porto Azzurro, as far as Punta delle Cannelle (Capo d'Arco).
Naregno
Located within the Stella Gulf, Norsi is a splendid example of the dark sand beach typical of the southern coast of the island. Subject primarily to southerly winds, it enjoys good exposure even during the cooler months.
The beach is quite long overall (about 400 meters) and is divided into two sections by a rocky outcrop that extends almost to the shoreline. The shoreline has a mixed composition, with areas dominated by fine, dark sand and others rich in black pebbles. Depending on the season and the storms, you may encounter areas of sand mixed with seagrass.
The beach slopes gently toward the sea, offering easy access to the water. Only in a few spots do you need to be careful due to the presence of rocks and stones between the shoreline and the sea. The left beach is more difficult to enter the water, as there are quite large rocks starting from the shoreline. The right beach is preferable for children.
Its distinctive wild appearance is given by the dense vegetation, typical of the Mediterranean scrub, which reaches right down to the beach. Simple refreshments are offered during the summer months by two small bars. There is also a small beach club with umbrella and lounger rentals.
Lido di Capoliveri
Known, as its name suggests, as Capoliveri's "lido par excellence," the beach is among the most well-known and popular on Elba Island, thanks to its beauty and easy access. Behind it, in the valley behind it, numerous accommodation and tourist facilities have developed, replacing the crops of past decades.
It is one of the largest beaches on the Island of Elba: approximately 460 meters long and 15 to 30 meters wide. Bordered by two rocky spurs, it is composed of fine, golden sand and surrounded by beautiful pine trees and Mediterranean scrub.
The beach is partly free and partly occupied by beach resorts.
On the left side, a cliff separates it from the smaller and less frequented Calanchiole beach.
The beach is very popular. It's popular with young people who see it as a meeting place and a place for relaxation, and it's also popular with those seeking an active vacation, being perfect for snorkeling, windsurfing, and other water sports. Thanks to its sandy shore and gently sloping seabed, it's also ideal for families with children.
The beach has bars and restaurants, as well as pedal boat, jet ski, and sailing boat rentals. The mistral wind contributes to the clarity of the sea.
On clear days the horizon is interrupted by the outline of the island of Montecristo.
Sant'Andrea
The beach, although modest in size (it is about 130 meters long and 12 meters deep at its deepest), is lovely and made up of clear granite sand lapped by a turquoise sea.
Here the seabed slopes gently for the first few meters, then quickly drops away, making it a popular spot for scuba divers, who can dive directly from the beach.
There are several well-equipped bars and restaurants directly on the beach.
To enjoy one of the most beautiful stretches of coast on the Island of Elba you can head east or west of the beach, where vast rocky expanses are suitable for sunbathing and swimming.
On the right, looking out to sea, following a pleasant path on the rocks, you can reach Cotoncello , a small but enchanting sandy beach.
Heading west, you head toward Capo Sant'Andrea. Here, the smooth granite rocks, known by the Elbans as Cote Piane , are ideal for bathing and are easily accessible. From Cotoncello to Capo Sant'Andrea, the granite is particularly beautiful, dotted with thousands of white feldspar crystals. Between April and May, the fuchsia blossoms of the Hottentot fig trees are a sight not to be missed.
NON-Equipped Beaches
Laconella
The beach, about 210 meters long, is covered with beautiful, very fine, light-colored sand. Only on the right side, bordering Ghiaieto beach, are there numerous smooth stones, some of considerable size.
The seabed boasts incredibly clear, aquamarine water, and the sea remains quite shallow for quite a stretch from the shoreline, allowing for refreshing walks and peaceful games for children.
Laconella beach is a beautiful and less crowded spot than Lacona, ideal for those seeking quiet places and unspoiled nature.
The promontory of Punta della Contessa on the left, with its suggestive V-shaped cliffs, is particularly interesting for snorkeling and appreciating the numerous fish that populate our sea.
It's also worth walking there, over the rocks, to admire the large Lacona beach and discover the tiny Punta della Contessa beach . The place is truly charming, probably one of the most unique gems the Elba coast has to offer.
Above the promontory are the ruins of a coastal anti-landing battery from the Second World War, placed to defend the Gulf of Lacona.
Sansone
This enchanting beach made up of small white gravel pebbles is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Island of Elba .
Situated close to the steep, white coastline typical of the northern slope that stretches from Capo Bianco to Capo Enfola, the beach offers uniquely clear water.
Sansone's undeniable charm is particularly evident on days with a sirocco wind, when the calm, crystal-clear sea reveals the pure white seabed. Featuring a wide variety of rocks, caves, and ravines populated by colorful fish, it's the ideal destination for snorkeling enthusiasts.
The beach is surrounded on the right by a rock, chosen by the younger ones for their dives, which divides it from the Sorgente beach and on the left by a large rock stack, a destination for lovers of canoe or kayak excursions.
On the beach there is a small beach club equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers, as well as pedal boat and canoe rentals.
On the path leading to the beach, the "Sansone Reef" bar offers a bar and small restaurant service.
Cala Nova
It's a small but welcoming oasis of extraordinary beauty and peace. It's about 80 meters long and surrounded by lush vegetation, including maritime pines and cork oaks that reach the beach, where you can find some shade on the hottest days.
Made up of sand and small pebbles, it is partly free and partly equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, a bar and a restaurant.
Due to its difficult access, Calanova beach is a bit remote from the most popular destinations, making it ideal for a relaxing day at the beach.
Thanks to a small mooring dock for boats, Calanova beach is a frequent destination for yachtsmen.
Mainly exposed to currents from the north, north-east and east, on days when midday, south-westerly and westerly winds blow, it offers a transparent sea.
The view opens onto the coast of the Longonese territory and behind Forte Focardo , onto the rugged heights of eastern Elba.
